Active Soil Depressurization (ASD) is the most effective radon reduction method used today. This is accomplished through either Sub Slab Depressurization or Sub Membrane Depressurization.
Sub Slab Depressurization (SSD) is the most commonly used method for homes with full basements or slab on grade homes. The Certified Mitigation Installer drills a hole in the concrete floor and connects a depressurization system to the underside of the floor, ideally into the ground bed just under the concrete, and expels the radon outside the home.

Sub Membrane Depressurization (SMD) is used where there is soil or rock that is exposed to the interior of the home, usually in a crawlspace. The Certified Mitigation Installer spreads a poly layer over the exposed soil or rock and seals them together and to the walls of the home. It then draws negative pressure on the underside of the poly to catch the radon before it enters the home and expels it outside before it can come inside.
